Baby has Taste buds??

My ticker for toay says "Watch what you eat, your baby now has taste buds".

So...when did these taste buds develop and does that mean if the baby doesnt like something, you will get nauseous/ sick/ vomit?
The reason I ask is bc you all know how I keep saying my M/S got so much worse recently; could it be from the baby's tasteChat Icon rather than hormonalChat Icon

I am looking for anything to figure out why I am so sick!!!!!

Re: Baby has Taste buds??

That just means their taste buds have been formed. All their "food"/nutrients is coming from the placenta/umbilical cord right now, so they don't taste anything.

Although, with that said, there were certain things early on that I couldn't eat, but I think that's mostly due to the hormones.

Re: Baby has Taste buds??

actually studies have shown that babies can taste some stronger flavors in Utero. Apparently some different spices and sweets can be transferedinto the amniotic fluid and since the baby drinks and excreted amniotic fluids once its taste buds are developed usually around 13-15 weeks the baby can start differentiating flavors!

I dont think that the baby not liking a certain taste is related to yoru MS. MS is thought to be related to hormonal fluctuations, primarily progesterone in your body!

I have read that they can taste what you eat. I don't think it means if they don't like it you will be affected by it.
