Baby is breech at 34 weeks. Anyone done the version treatment in the hospital?
I went for a sono today to check the baby's movements. She seems to be a quiet baby.
So she was moving around OK, but now I have other two issues.
First they said I have low fluid. They need to monitor it.
Second, the baby is breech. They suggest I go for version where they turn the baby around, but I do not like the way it sounds.
I can go into labor and it may not work. It is also painful from what I was told.
In the meantime, the Dr. scheduled me for a C/S at 39 weeks.
She said it isn't likely the baby will turn.
Has anyone ever gone through this? I don't know what the right answer is.
Do I do the version treatment in the hospital? Do I wait to see if she moves and just go along with the C/S?

You are 34 weeks...I think there is still a chance that baby will turn. I'd personally wait it out.
eta: I know you said the doctor said the baby will probably not turn...but doctors aren't always right. Increase your water intake, your fluids should increase, and that will probably give baby enough fluid to turn. At least that's what I'd hope.

My SIL is going through the same thing right now. Her doctor told her that he didnt recommend trying to flip the baby. It isnt a guarantee and it is uncomfortable. My SIL decided that she is going to leave the baby as is. If she flips, she flips, and if not she will have a c section. I think it depends on each individual. She has been ok with a c section from the beginning. Some people are not so keen on the idea.
Sorry I couldnt be more help.
Good Luck!!!
ETA: I had a coworker have her baby breach and the day she went in for her schedule c section, she baby flipped on her own, so it is definitely a possibility that the baby will turn on its own.

My first son was breech at 34 weeks and he still turned before he was born. I did a search online of "natural" ways to turn the baby, including yoga poses etc. He turned by 37 weeks.

Re: Baby is breech at 34 weeks. Anyone done the version treatment in the hospital?
I was in your boat a few weeks ago. DS is breech and he's not going anywhere. We decided against doing the external version because out of all the possible outcomes, most of them ended in a c-section anyway (I'm scheduled to have my section a week from today). I don't know if your Dr. mentioned it but external version don't usually work for first time moms because the uterus isn't as stretchy as a BTDT mom.
The version is done in the hospital and you go home the same day. The reason they do it in the hospital is because if you were to go into labor, they're prepared.
You have the section scheduled and if the baby turns, she/he turns and the section can be cancelled. Just remember, there's no right or wrong answer... it's what you and DH are comfortable with and want to do.
DH and I did TONS of research before coming to the conclusion that the version wasn't for us (that included talking to my uncle who is a neonatal Dr and a family friend who is a L&D nurse). We even went on YouTube and searched "external version" just to see what it was like.
Good luck! Looks like both of our LO's are already terrible with directions

Thank you so much for your response. You gave me a lot to think about.
Did your Dr. say it isn't likely your LO will turn?
My Dr. seems to be pushing this for some reason.

Re: Baby is breech at 34 weeks. Anyone done the version treatment in the hospital?
FIrst, DS was born at nearly 10lbs on his due date. At 34 weeks he was breech, by 36 he was head down. So if my monster had room to turn, so does yours!
As far as the version, I personally wouldnt do one. But having a v-birth is not a big deal with me (I had a c/s with DS, with no labor no regrets) My SIL tried a version the cord wrapped around her DSs neck and they did a c/s right away.
I dont think (although I dont know statistically) that versions are that successful and there is still a chance that they baby will flip back breech before you deliver. IMO if the baby is breech thats the way they want to be so even if you flip them, those kids (even in the womb) are stubborn!
GL with your decision.

Yes... my DS is so tucked up under my rib cage that my Dr's never gave him a fighting chance of turning... lol.
