baby pool question (gambling)

How much would you suggest everyone contribute to a baby pool. We are thinking of doing 2 separate pools and my suggestion was $1 each. DH thinks that's not enought but I figured more people would participate if it wasn't too much money.

When I was pregnant they started a pool at my office and it was $1 for each guess. With the price to play so low, many people made multiple guesses. They had to guess gender, date of birth and weight. The winner kept 50% of the pot and the other 50% went to the baby I think anything more than 41 may make people not want to participate - I mean this is just for fun and for "bragging rights"... not to win a pot of money I would guess.

I was thinking of doing $2 per person, one guess per person. I think that's what my cousin did.
