I hardly ever had him in shoes unless it was a special occassion.
I see alot of people use Robeez. See this link on Parenting

I remember reading somewhere that you should avoid shoes until they are past age 1......it helps with their walking and their feet development.....

I think crib shoes are just a smaller size, and of finer material, i.e. no rubber soles. (although i might be wrong)
My SIL has had my nephew in shoes since he was born. I think it is adorable!

they dont need shoes BUT if you wanted to put them on them what you are looking for are called crib shoes....

The only function of shoes on a small baby is to keep their feet warm I think. Personally I am having an Aug baby, so I never considered it. My son went around in socks and bare feet depending on the weather. For a special occassion you might want shoes, I guess.
