Baby Shower - Who pays?
Hey ladies:
Just a quick question. My sister is planning a shower for me. I know my Mom, Dad and sister will be splitting the bill.
The guest list is comprised of about 62 people and 27 of those guests are on my MIL's side. Should she be expected to pay something.
Just wondering who should foot the bill.

My mom is paying for mine, I don't have any sisters.
My SIL's and MIL are paying for nothing....of course my MIL tried to ask if some extra people could come and my mom said we're running out of room....which I'm glad she said no cause MIL is not helping with anything.....IMO, if she wants to have X number of people there, she should help....or throw another shower
Sorry, my MIL gets my blood boiling 
What did your parents and sister say? IMO I think your MIL should help, but there is a difference of what should happen and what happens....did she offer???

when my sister had hers MIL called my mom and said she would pay her side, and split my sisters friends...
then when it came time for me mom & mil were going to split it, before i ended up canceling the shower... mil threw her own shower

My parents and inlaws were arguing (in a freindly way) over who was going to pay. My parents paid for my baby shower. My inlaws offered to help, but my mother would not accept money. It was ridiculous, I never saw 2 people fight over who wanted to pay for a shower!! My MIL was NOT given a limit on her guest list either. I had about 120 people.
Both parents split the furniture
If your family is hosting the party, I don't think they should ask or expect your inlaws to pay for their guests, even if it's 1/2 the guest list.

My mother and mother in law split the cost of the shower.
my mother paid for all the extras- favors/centerpieces/invites

i believe my mom is paying for the majority of the restaurant tab and the rest is my girls... i have like 5 people plus my mom throwing it...

I know my mom is paying for mine....There are no limitations on guests either as it is at my house. My parents also paid for the baby's crib

My mom is paying for the shower. She and my dad also bought our crib. DH's side only has like 7 guests since his family is so small.

IMO - whoever is hosting the shower. Except in my case where I was hosting it with two of my sisters "friends" and they stiffed me with the entire bill! 
ETA: Not that I care in the long run, she is my sister after all... but the principal of the matter, and to be called awful things by one of her friends after that, was just WRONG

My mom is paying for my shower.... but then again my MIL isn't even coming so why would I expect her to pay  (she's out of state and told DH if we didn't think it was a big deal she wasn't going to come...meanwhile shes planning a NY trip for just 1 week before the shower, shes insane)

My mom's paying for it. My MIL in the beginning offered to help and do whatever but has been MIA ever since we decided against having it at my SIL's.

if you offer to host, you are offering to pay. and while I guess it would be nice if people offered to pay for their guests (or their side) the host should be prepared and fine with paying for the whole shebang.
I am not sure who is paying for my family shower...but methinks it will be us (my husband)

I think it depends on the family, the place...etc. In my case my parents paid for it all.....the IL's are jjust not like that and it probably never even crossed their minds. I know some friends had the godmother and the grandparents split the cost also.
