Baby Shower - Wishing well or library books?
If you decided to do a library book wishing well, what 'sayings' were included in your invitations?

I like a wishing well better. There are soo many little things you get that are great in a wishing well.

I love the idea of books! I will probably choose books over a wishing well.

I absolutely LOVE this idea for the same reason!!! All I can think about are what books I want to get and read to our baby. I got all these Barnes & Nobles gift cards as gifts from students and I was thinking of getting a whole bunch for the baby- but then I'll probably get a bunch of books as gifts for my shower.
I would kind of miss the wishing well though- all the little things you need that add up!

I had a reg wishing well at my "real shower" and a book wishing well at the shower my class had thrown for me! While I love the books so much, I got so many needed things in the reg wishing well that i personally prefer that!
Its all personal preference and both truly are great!

Oooh Marie!! that's a cool idea!!! Think I can suggest this at work for my work shower or is that tacky of me? Teachers would be the BEST people to get books from!

I had a school shower thrown by the Sunshine Club but it was actually the classmothers who threw me a class shower that had the book wishing well! You do make a point though that teachers would be the best for bringing in the books! :) I def think you can suggest it, but only to someone you're close with! i wouldn't suggest it to just anyone!! Then that person can relay it onto whoever is responsible for throwing the school shower! That way you can get the best of both

Re: Baby Shower - Wishing well or library books?
i did a book wishing well and now have an ENTIRE bookcase LOADED with books of all different types!
some are baby board books, dr suess, holiday themed, series, etc.
IMO most of the stuff you get in wishing wells is useless--people put in cutesy things, and that's not what you need.
people still got me my "little stuff"--my BF (maybebaby) made me a basket of lots of smaller items and that was one of the best gifts! people typically buy their own little things for a wishing well--not the ones off your registry.
my mom didn't use a poem--she just wrote a nice saying about how we'd like to start off DS's library.
it's all personal preference, but i vote book well hands down!

Re: Baby Shower - Wishing well or library books?
This was mine:
Wishing Well I want to be a bright child As smart as I can be. That is why I'm hoping My mom and dad will read to me. If you plan to bring a card Please take another look. I would like to learn my ABC's From your favorite storybook. Please add your name and a note Then I'll know you've done your part. Some day I'll surely thank you From the bottom of my little heart.

I feel cheesy suggesting it, even to my close friends- who would be organizing the shower since your own 'team' does it for you at my school. So the specialists take care of it for me! Maybe I could just casually say that I heard about baby book wishing well and thought it was cool.

Re: Baby Shower - Wishing well or library books?
I design stationery for a living so I did my own shower invites. I had an invitation and a sepreate card for registry info.
My registry cards were like this:
Although cards are nice with their sentiment and prayer, They're read once or twice, then tucked away with care. A book is a treasure, words and pictures unite, Read over and over to teach and delight. So instead of a card for baby and mother, Please give a child's book With your thoughts in the cover. And please keep in mind that Mommy and Daddy want to ensure Lexi’s health, Which is why so many goodies Are chosen from the organic shelf!
