Baby Shower Gift - Cost
How much do you generally spend on a baby shower gift? I'll be attending my cousin's baby shower and we're not close. My mom is spending $50, but I wonder if that's not enough (now that I had to do my own registry and know how expensive everything is!!)

Re: Baby Shower Gift - Cost
i usually spend $75 - imo its hard to give someone "a good gift" for less
i always try to aim for $50 but it seems like its never enough
eta - if its a family member i spend a lot more

Depends on who it is - a random cousin you're not close with at all - I think $50 is fine.

ITA. When DH's best friend's wife had her shower, we spent about $90-100. When a random relative had a baby, we sent a $40 gift card.

Re: Baby Shower Gift - Cost
I usually try to spend between $50 and $75 depending on how close I am to the person. My best friend is due a month after me and I plan to get her more. You have to do what you're comfortable with.

Re: Baby Shower Gift - Cost
If I'm not that close to the person or am attending a shower more out of obligation -- than $50 is a sufficient amount gift to me.
As for those I'm close to -- that can range fro m$100 to $300 or more.

Re: Baby Shower Gift - Cost
$75 is my norm unless it is a close, close friend or relative, then I spend closer to $100

Re: Baby Shower Gift - Cost
I think $50 is fine! I have so many showers to go to this year and I honestly cannot spend more then that, especially if you can go in with someone and get an bigger gift. But in my opinion their are a lot of things you can get for $50 that Im sure the person will love and appreciate.

i think 50 is fine and there are some nice things you can do . for example you can put some of these items together and it looks like a lot more than 50 and there is no tax and there are some coupons out there. let me know if you cant find them, i know i have them somewhere. its my favorite site!
the links are SOOO cute!! Now I'm going to spend the rest of the night going through the site!

Re: Baby Shower Gift - Cost
it depends on how close i am with the person. The minimum i will spend is usually $50.00. If they are close friends or family, i will usually either buy 1 of the bigger or more expensive gifts on their registry or get a whole bunch of the smaller things and a bunch of clothes or other things they might need.

More if we're super close (I got my BFF her travel system and some clothes).
Less if we're not so close, like a shower in my office or something. I usually get diapers, clothes...something along those lines.
Now that I'm having my own baby, I'm getting a bit frugal! My baby needs my money! hehehe
