baby shower gift question... NOW WITH UPDATE
a little background: i hosted a shower for a friend. now, she's having one hosted by her mom/mil.
do you think this is a good gift?
*3 hand-knit washclothes with baby footprints on them in different colors *3 hand painted onesies that say: "jersey girl" the family last name in "soprano font" "i attended Lizbeth and John's wedding" (she was pregnant at my wedding but didn't know it) *hand-knit booties to match a hand-knit hat i already gave her
the reason i ask is this.... i'm poor and all my items are "cheap". she comes from well-to-do people.
i don't want it to look like i'm a cheap-o friend.
please be brutally honest
tia
UPDATE: thank you all for your words of encouragement. (sorry i forgot to take pictures)
my friend's shower was yesterday. it was sooo nice and i bet it cost a small fortune. i showed up with my little home-made gift... i did change it up a little from what i originally planned.
i gave her: * 3 hand-knit washcloths (like planned) * i didn't give her the booties, b/c the closure wasn't finished (i'll give them to her later) * so, i decided to get an extra pack of onsies... ended up making 10. they said... ~family last name in "soprano font" b/c mom is a big fan ~everyone loves a jersey girl ~fuggetabout it! ~future bon jovi fan ~i went to liz and john's wedding and all i got was this lousy onesie ~diva ~got milk? ~100% organic ~2007 tax deduction ~baby zorn version 1.0
THE GIFT WAS A HIT!!! everyone asked where i bought them, and i sooooo proudly told them that i MADE THEM ALL!!
thank you all again, for giving me the encouragement to stand behind my handy-work.

I think that is a great gift. I sure she will appreciate the thought that went into it - besides it is the thought not the amount spent that matters.

i know that she's one who loves the fact that the items are (for the most part) hand made. it's just that i don't want to feel uncomfortable in a room of women i don't know and have them think i'm a tight-wad.
as i'm typing this, i realize that it's the mommy-to-be who matters. SHE is the one who is my friend, not her family and in-laws. who cares what they think/feel about my gift?!
ok, i feel better. thanks for letting me vent/think-out-loud on this one.
