Re: Baby shower-Kids
Did she say this to you directly?
I would have replied with "I'm sorry, kids are not invited. I hope you can find a sitter so that you can still attend"
I HATE when people do things like this. Or bring uninvited guests.
ETA: I also think kids at a shower is nice, but if I got an invitation not inviting kids, I would respect that. I always invite kids.

Re: Baby shower-Kids
Can you nicely explain to her as much as you would love her daughter there, it wouldn't be fair to the other guests who wanted to bring their children and were told no?
This happened at Dh's cousin's shower - someone wanted to bring her kids and that's how they explained it to her.

Re: Baby shower-Kids
I sorta think little kids at a baby shower is a nice thing....
ETA-I also know I had to bring my son to my cousin's BRIDAL shower and I swore I would never do anything like that. But my husband works overnights and my whole family would be there, so it was either me not go (and I ma VERY close to her) or he come....sometimes life does get in the way...

Re: Baby shower-Kids
We specifically told my sister's MIL AND SIL that the kids were not invited to the bridal shower. Not enough room, nothing for them to do. Well who showed up? ALL 3 OF THEM! I marched outside and called them on it, like I thought I said they weren't supposed to come - what happened to the babysitter? But they wound up staying anyway because there was nothing we could do about it on such short notice.
I had my nieces at my shower and it was fine but if they're not invited, don't bring them or at least ask the host beforehand, not tell them or just show up!

Me too. My aunt's 5 girls were invited (because they are my close little cousins), and when people called to rsvp, my mom said one person asked if their daughter (whom I know) would be able to come. So from then on, my mom continued to tell anyone that had a daughter to come. (boys weren't interested) I had all of my friends and their daughters there. We started with 5 coming and had 10, it was great!
The girls were excited bc they had never been to a baby shower before and mine was their first.
eta: I didn't know about my shower, but I liked the idea of having the kids there and my mom knew I would.
But, if those are your wishes to not have them there, they should respect that.

Re: Baby shower-Kids
How old is her daughter? I feel like babies shouldnt be invited but if there is kids older than I guess like 10ish it would be cute. JMO

Re: Baby shower-Kids
I don't mind kids at a baby shower, I'm actually begging my sister to allow my nephew to come at least at the end, I want to show him off b/c I love him to pieces (I understand why he can't be there for the whole thing, she's helping my Mom with everything for it) but my other friend is bringing her newborn.
How old is she? maybe it won't be so bad?
I understand though that you don't want kids there and this person should respect that.

Re: Baby shower-Kids
Why can't people just respect what other people want... for their event...? God...it's really just rude.
