Baby Shower Location

Do you think it would be unreasonable to invite guests to your baby shower that would have to travel appx 1 hour to get there?

My SIL offered to have my baby shower at her house (she lives out in Suffolk, (we live in Queens) has a huge house, a big backyard and a pool)...we thanked her and told her that we will let her know...we're thinking about it.

Re: Baby Shower Location

How many guests do you think would have to travel this far?

Re: Baby Shower Location

I always go with the policy it is better to invite and let them decide then not to invite or try and accomodate everyone- if you have a big family it ends up being way too hard to make everyone happy! So I would say unless you are dealing with the majority of the guests - do what works for you Chat Icon

Re: Baby Shower Location

Personally it would depend on who it would be affecting, as in who would have to travel that 1 hr.

When planning my shower I chose a location as central as I could b/c there were people I wanted to be there that lived in Ronkonkoma and Lake Grove (both in Suffolk) as well as people who live in Brooklyn and Queens.

I wanted them all to come, so I tried to chose a central location

Invite them and let them decide. My wedding was like 1 hour 1/2 away from everyone but they still showed up.

I dont think it is unreasonable at all. People are going to go b/c they want to share in your happiness and they are doing it for you they are not going to care where it is..
