baby shower question...

Should there be assigned tables and make placecards for the guests?
Or just let everyone find a seat?

I think there should be assigned tables but my sil said she wasn't going to do that. (she is throwing the shower)
I have been to a shower where there wasn't assigned tables and many people got separated from friends or family and felt awkward.

I have been to a bridal shower where there were assined tables- thought that was a lil weird - not sure what my mom & sis have planned for mine

I have been to both. I tend to prefer no seating assignments in case there aren't many people there I don't know I can sit with the people I do know (like for a shower for a friend)

I think it depends on the group - sometimes I think it is better when they assign you a table (more so than a particular seat). I have been to a few showers where I got separated from friends b.c there weren't enough seats at a table - and even been to parties where the guest of honor's close family members were banished to other tables b.c they weren't fast enough to sit down.

But sometimes when it is a very small party - 1 or 2 long tables it might not be necessary.

If you want assigned tables then your SIL should honor that request.

I've been to both - Personally, I'd rather be told where to sit.
I just think it's easier for everyone .......

Mine had assigned seats. just easier that way.

I think if you're very concious of who you're putting where and you know that everyone will be happy it's fine to assign tables. Otherwise let it be and people will find a way to sit with who they're comfortable with. Good luck!
