Baby sleeping in same position all the time. What can I do?
I have seen quite a few posts recently about flat heads and it's making me really think about whether we need to be worried about our DD. She favors her right side when she sleeps on her back with the effect that she is getting a little flatness to the back right side of her head behind her ear. I have tried putting her on her left side in her crib and she always ends up on her back with her head facing to the right.
I mentioned it to our Ped and she said that it's okay and that it all should balance out when she starts moving more but now at 4 months I can still see it and I can't seem to be able to get her to stay in a different position. What can I do? 10 years ago when it was recommended to put DCs on their sides my sister had wedges but they are no longer sold. Do you think it would be okay to roll up some receiving blankets and wedge them around her back and tummy to keep her on her left side?
Has anyone's DC had a little head flatness that did go away? I am trying to avoid her ending up with a helmet.

Re: Baby sleeping in same position all the time. What can I do?
what if you mixed up the side you put her head towards in the crib...my daughters' heads were always towards the window/on my left as I put them down....to mix it up I could have put them down with their heads towards the door/on my right side. I've heard sometimes kids turn to face away from a wall or towards the door, etc.

Re: Baby sleeping in same position all the time. What can I do?
Same thing with us. We started to feed and hold him so he had to turn his head the opposite way. We also put a receiving blanket next to his head only if he fell asleep in his rocker because I could see him. I personally wouldn't put anything in the crib overnight because I was too afraid.
Feeding/holding him opposite & the blankets helped a lot and his head evened out on it's own.

Re: Baby sleeping in same position all the time. What can I do?
Thank you.
I do feed her so that she rests on her left side and that doesn't make a difference. I will try switching her to the other end of the crib so that she can still face out but be on her left side. I have tried wedging her bunny by her face to the right when she's napping and she just ends up with her face in the bunny. Maybe the blanket would work better...

Re: Baby sleeping in same position all the time. What can I do?
dd had a flat spot due to what you are describing, sleeping 1 way, always.
Lots of tummy time during the day, switch arms while feeding, head at different ends of the crib.
All of this combined plus mobility and it went away. I also got the noggin nest.
I used it when she would lay on her back playing or just laying around. In the swing, carseat not in the car but stroller, walks), etc but only when she was awake and I could see her.

This is pretty much everything I did with DS when we noticed him always turning one way. Also, while napping I would roll and wedge a blanket under his side to force his head to be on the other side.
