Baby tylenol/motrin - teething
Can tylenol and motrin keep a baby up? I gave them to my son (in the right dose, and per doctors instructions) for a slight fever probably due to teething yesterday, and he did not sleep at all yesterday (not like him), got SO cranky, and while his usual bedtime is 7:30 would not sleep until 11. I felt so badly for him bc he was obviously so overtired but could not sleep. So I did not give him another dose (should have at 11pm), and he slept well through the rest of the night, and took his morning nap like always.
I really think the tylenol and motrin would not let him sleep. I am going to the doctor today, but do you think that is possible? Anybody else's baby have this type of reaction? He still has a slight fever, but I am not giving him any more tylenol or motrin until I see the doctor.
On a related note, if teething is REALLY REALLY bad for the first tooth, is it going to be this bad for each additional tooth coming in??

Maybe I am not understanding, did you give him both at the same time? It does say on the bottle of Motrin, may cause sleeplessness but it doesn't happen for us .

No, I gave him tylenol during the day, and then motrin at night.

I've never heard of them causing that, even though it lists it as a possible side effect. I gave my baby Tylenol the other night for a slight fever, and she slept like she has never slept before!!!
