Babylon Monday: NYPD funeral

I work in Babylon near Argyle Lake and my office contacted me in the field earlier today ......the funeral for the officer is going to be there so they are closing off Main St I believe starting around 9AM. All of the side streets will also be closed.

My FIL who is retired NYPD advised anyone who works in the area who may need to get out to try to make alternate arrangements for work that day. They expect at least 14,000 people to be in the area and he said that the restaurants and bars will probably be packed for the rest of the day and there will be no parking/anywhere to go really.

DD's Preschool is part of St Joseph's and her school was closed for the day. I figured it would be. I'd advise avoiding the area as well.

I feel so bad for the slain officer's family and admire the work he did and his ultimate sacrifice. I'm glad local businesses are accommodating everyone.

I had a memo from the town on my desk when I went to pick up my paycheck a little while ago.

The whole Babylon area is going to be shut down from 9-2 on Monday from Rt. 109 area to Rt 231.

No cars will be allowed in or out after that time regardless of the reason.
