Babyproofing

It is come to that time that we need to start to babyproof our house since Jacob starting crawling last week ( exciting but really not ready for him to be all over the place).

For those who have done this already, are there any must have things to baby proof and which brands are the best.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I am sure many of us are going through this right
now or will be in the coming months...

Outlet covers - you can get the kind that plug in but eventually they figure out how to take them out. They sell switch overs that you have to move. I'm not sure if Home Depot sells them but these are good:

Gates - depending on how wide the opening is.

Door look. We have one under our kitchen sink for the chemicals. Another option is to change where you keep things. Put the chemicals up high. One day I found Joseph with a broom wedged into the cabinet under the lock. I screamed "What are you doing?!" He said "well, I can just never get this cabinet open & it's so frustrating!"Chat Icon

Window guards

Anchors for dressers etc (if they're a climber).

If you have old blinds, make sure the string is a breakaway, versus the older model which is a loop.

Will post more when I can think of it.

Really the best way is to get down on your knees & see what they're looking at.

One Step Ahead is pretty good, although has some extremely ridiculous things you dont need (like knee guards for your baby).

Re: Babyproofing

We just started babyproofing - slowly. He is really pretty contained to one area where he can't really get to anything. So far we have the outlet plugs, we bought a gate (the playyard one) and have it around the TV and racks (CD and DVD racks on either side of TV), we also have the corner guards for the bottom corners of his dresser. We are going to buy the locks for the cabinet doors that are opened with a magnet (recommended to us) but haven't done it yet.
