babys first shot.. how did you handle?

We are about to leave to go get DS first shot. he will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and so he is getting HEP B shot because i opted for Ped to give this shot in office. Im trying to keep my happy face on like i do for my patients but i just know im gonna cry when he does. How did you handle your childs first shot?

Here's my confession:

From the start I would put DS down on the table and hide behind the doctor. Doctor gave the shot and DS started crying...in comes mommy with "what happened? Mommy's here" like I was rescuing him

But now I have to hold my toddler - they do it pretty quickly and I just comfort him and give him a treat.

It was fine. I mean he cried his head off afterwards, but then you scoop him up and console him.

However he's 8 months now and we found the trick. Time it right where it's time for a bottle and give him the bottle while he gets his shots. This is the only thing that helps. Ds doesn't cry when he's eating. All the other times he screamed his head off.

When we brought my DS for his first round of shots I didn't know what to expect. The doc. just asked me to take off his clothes to weigh him and then he gave him 2 shots. I felt so bad because he was on the table when he got them and cried like never before. After that he was fine no fever no reaction but every time he got his shots after that I made sure I held him and he reacted so much better.
