Baby's weight and delivery ??
Since I have been on steroids for my asthma since the beginning, and I was hospitalized and put on strong doses of steroids, the dr. is going to do a growth sono when I am 32 weeks and then each week after. If the baby is growing bigger than I am in weeks, is there a change they induce me/schedule a C-section earlier than my due date?

they will probably talk to you about delivering early if the baby is getting too big. i think it is a bit odd though that they would do a growth sono weekly b/c my specialist has said that they aren't accurate when taken that close together...he said 2 weeks was the standard. either way, it is nice to have such close monitoring even though you will be at the doctor's more often.

It all depends upon the situation. The earliest they will schedule a C-Section is usually about 10 days prior to your due date. If they think it's wise to deliver before that they may do an amnio to assess lung maturity and then move forward from there...
If the baby is quite large doing weekly growth sonos isnt all that unusual.

Re: Baby's weight and delivery ??
well, the dr. said the weekly growth sonos are mostly precautionary just b/c of the meds I have been taking. But, I'veo nly gained 10 pounds in 6 1/2 months and the dr. dosent think is that big now. But, he is more concerned about the summer months and how he will start to grow. I was just curious to know if there was a possibility of delivering early b/c of the weight.

Re: Baby's weight and delivery ??
Kris, I asked my Dr the same thing.. (because I like to ask 100 questions ) and she told me that if the baby was 'too big' she would definately consider a c-section just for safety reasons.
I have a stupidly small pelvis and she said that sometimes when a bigger baby tries to deliver naturally, it could do more harm then good... but its all relative I guess. A 'big baby' for me, might be normal for someone else. But you're quite the little one yourself.. so I guess it will all depend on sizes and weights later on.
She didnt say anything about early induction, but I honestly think anything is possible. I will be interested to see what happens in the coming months with you and your little bean!

Re: Baby's weight and delivery ??
I think it depends on your doctor. My doctor is also going to do growth sonos once I hit 36 weeks, because I have big babies, and I would like to deliver naturally. So he will do growth sonos to make sure the baby is not too big, and if he gets to be too big(not really sure how big is too big, my DD was 8.15) he will do an amnio to make sure the lungs are mature and then induce.
