I don't think we are overly generous byt NY standards, but for NC we areChat Icon

We are giving target gift cards to the day care staff.

Thinking of:

$25 per teacher (4 teachers)
$25 for the director and assistant director
$10 to the receptionists (2)
$10 to the nutrion staff (2)
and then $10 per floater (about 4 regulars)

About $250 spread across everyone there I think...Chat Icon

I'm a fulltime nanny and the people I work for have gotten me tix for broadway shows with other little things thrown in.

etc: basket of lotions/candles, pajamas, gas cards, etc.

Be good to those who take care of your children -- we really appreciate it Chat Icon

I"m interested also - DD goes to a babysitter three times a week, I want to get her a nice gift but I'm not sure how much is the norm to spend.

The rule of thumb that I have always followed is give around the amount you pay a week split betweeen the teachers.
For instance if you pay $250 a week, split $250 between the teachers in some manner.

I feel you can never give enough to the people that take care of your children.

For me: I pay $500 a week for daycare -
For 6 teacher - $50 each cash
For 4 assist teacher - $ 25 each cash

And then I will give each a bottle of wine or a box of chocolate.
Hopefully adding up to $500.

It is a LOT of money but I would rather sacrifice a gift for my DD/DS/DH to give to them!!!
