Back from 2nd growth sono at 36w 2d
Well, I'm home....all was good with the sono appt. DH was able to make it (even tho he is technically working)!! So, DS has a nice round head, freely showing his privates (boys will be boys!!), measured his head, stomach (tech said it's nice and big) and femur. Also saw his heart- heartrate is 163 (good), diaphragm and how he was hiding his face with one hand and the other holding onto a foot!
Okay, now for the part. Now, at 33 weeks he was estimated at 4.25 lbs. Yesterday DH and I were guessing he'd be 6- 6.25 lbs. Well, today he was estimated 7.24 lbs!!!!!!!!! Tech said "Give or take 1/2 a pound" She said "For your sake, I hope you don't go more than 1 week" Yeah, me too! She (the tech) is so cool, that when she said the poundage, and I saw it on the screen I said (quietly) "Oh sh*t" She then measured the amt of amniotic fluid, but didn't tell me how much was there, though I could see there was less than last time. Last sono there were 4 big pockets. Today only 1 big pocket.
I go to the Dr on Tuesday, and we'll see what he says about the size and fluid AND it will be my first internal. Put all those factors together and I am hoping to have a plan set. I tend to get "chicken sh*t" at the Dr and just say "Okay" to whatever they say. I swear to you, I will be speaking my mind if he dare say he wants me to go full term- I am hoping I'll have an April baby!

Re: Back from 2nd growth sono at 36w 2d
I just had a bio physical sono on Wed & the tech told me that each tech measures differently. Last week (34 weeks) the baby measured 5lb 3oz. This week @ 35 weeks, a different tech said the baby was up to 7lbs. 6oz. That's a big jump in one week!

That is a big jump. My understanding is the calculation is made by inputing the measuremenst of the femur, stomach and head into the specific formulary (which at this office is set) and that calculates the estimated fetal weight.
