Back from the Doc with both girls...My poor newborn...& milk allergy question
Still has Blood in her Stool...
Poor Amelia, this poor little baby has been miserable for weeks. I tested her stool all week and the Alimentum just isn't cutting it for her, plus we put her on Pepcid for AR just like her older sis.
We are on to NEOCATE. I really hope this formula works for her.
I hope this explains why she is still screaming, has painful gas, and loose poo.. I am so emotionally exhausted. Moms with babies with Milk allergy's, did your DC's have bad rash's on their face and swollen eyes with their allergy?
Good news though, Gianna is doing wonderful! A total peanut, at 29 3/4 inches long and 20 lbs 2oz's. She's in the 20th percentile for height and 10th percentile for weight, doc isn't worried, I just have a little girl

Re: Back from the Doc with both girls...My poor newborn...& milk allergy question
Neocate was a godsend for us. He got really constipated on it at first - literally no BMs for a month and we tried a lot of different things. Finally babyFleet enema worked once the dr manually broke the blockage up. Since then he gets a few oz of prune juice a day (about 4 oz) in a couple bottles and no problems.
Andy didn't have swollen eyes but he still gets a wicked rash at times. It's technically atpoic dermatitis, only cortizone creme (which is a steroid) works to clear it up. He gets it on his face (mainly from drooling) and in places where the skin rubs, right now in his armpits. I'll try to find a good pic to show you.
Hopefully she outgrows it.
ETA: Not the greatest pic but you get the idea. When it's all raw like that we have to use an antibiotic creme also to keep it from getting infected.

Re: Back from the Doc with both girls...My poor newborn...& milk allergy question
Poor Ameila, hopefully the Pepcid and the Neocate will help her. DS does have eczema and has flare ups every one and in while but they don't get to bad. They vary in location on his body. Now DD has severly dry skin on her face and just very dry skin all over her body. It is getting better with Gental Naturals eczema cream and for her face I am using a cream that I have for DS and it is getting so much better. I am thinking about bringing her to a ped. derm to see about her skin.

Michele, that's the other thing I forgot to mention in my fm...be aware that constipation is extremely common when using Neocate. For us, the magic solution was to give her water everyday in between feedings. Just a heads up

The dr constantly told me his face rash was baby acne...but it looked too painfull. On my own, I gave up milk and soy and his face was clear by day 4.
I hope you get it worked out soon...

cathy-oh gooness that rash looks so awful.
Rach-thank you for the head's up!
This is what is all over Amelia's face, head and neck...this pic is one side of her face
Should I put anything on it? Or just wait and see if it clears up with the Neocate?
For Gianna's eczema we put on the heavy duty eucerin-the one in the tub, thank goodness we get it before it needs cortizone so far.

I'd try the Eucerin since it might itch her. Or you could try Cetaphil or Aquaphor.
Hopefully she's feeling better soon!
