Back to School shopping ? PreK

I got all of the items on his list for supplies, but I just found out that he will not be in a uniform this year. I was not planning on buying school clothes, since I just figured I'd buy x amount of slacks and x amount of oxford shirts. I have to go out this weekend and get some clothes. Here's my question...how much should I buy for him? I don't really want to send him in sweats, and I think they cannot wear shorts. I was going to buy 7 - 10 pairs of jeans and pants and about 20 shirts. Is that overkill?

DS is 4 and I will do laundry for him. It is not like I am getting ready to send him to college where it needs to last 3 weeks for him to have a break to visit and bring laundry home.

I would get 10-14 shirts (a mix of long sleeve, Henley, ringer, rugby)
1 sweater
1 polar fleece
1 hoodie
4 pairs of jeans
1 pair chinos
1 pair cords
1 pair polar fleece
1 pair non-cuffed sweat pants
underwear
socks
fall jacket
winter coat
boots
sneakers
1 nice outfit
gloves
hat
snow pants
