Re: Back to school shopping ... Clothes?
I always make a killing at Children's Place between their sales, coupons, and extra discount for using their credit card.
In Kindergarten my DD wore sneakers a lot of the time but in the warmer months she did also wear sandals, in the cooler months she wore cute Mary Janes or black suede boots depending on her outfit.

Re: Back to school shopping ... Clothes?
I have a boy, and I get a lot at Marshalls... My DS likes to wear a lot of sports stuff (teams) and also Nike, Adidas, etc. But he's so hard on his clothes that I try to not pay full price, and Marshall's usually has a decent selection.
I also go to Kohl's for sports and character type shirts, basic pants.
He has a few sports jerseys, too, from Modell's/Sports Authority.
The boys pretty much wear shorts/tees and track pants/long sleeved t-shirts or jerseys and/or hoodies every day. I used to dress DS really cute and preppy, but those days are gone now that he weighs in on what he's wearing.
My DS was in K last year - - the kids (well, the boys at least) pretty much wore sneakers. His class had gym twice a week (sneakers were required for that) and the school encouraged sneakers for the playground every day.

Re: Back to school shopping ... Clothes?
I got my K son tons of gap, old navy, & land's end tops & sweats but I only buy sale stuff or if I have a coupon. I like him mostly in elastic waist shorts/pants so the bathroom situation is easier for him. I make him wear jeans at home though so we practice together. He has a pair of stride rite sneakers with Velcro. I'll prob need to buy him a cheap pair of sneakers too & I saw a few styles for $20 at marshall's. I have to go back there soon.

Re: Back to school shopping ... Clothes?
I had a 30% for Kohls and took DD tonight- she is going into 3rd. Got a ton of stuff for $90- I think 5 leggings, 6 shirts, pack of undershirts. She will outgrow it before it falls apart.
When DD was in K she wore sneakers a lot- gym is twice a week- and she also had a pair of fuzzy loafers and also boots in the cold weather.

Back to school shopping ... Clothes?
In Kindergarden DD had gym every day and had to wear sneakers. I was just talking to another mom with an older DD and she said even after K they are supposed to wear sneakers for the playground.

Only days of gym class are sneakers required.
I really don't understand questions like these as what do your kids normally wear? That is what they would wear when they start school.

Re: Back to school shopping ... Clothes?
I don't bother dressing my boys up for school - They've been in daycare since they are babies and I learned my lesson early on re: buying $$$$ clothes - they get destroyed. Especially my older son going into 1st Grade. Old Navy is GREAT for tops - they wash exceptionally well. Osh Kosh are my favorite for wind pants. I just went to Marshalls and got them both a bunch of Under Armour and Nike -
They basicaly live in windpants, Tshirts, long sleeve hoodie T's (they look cute under a Tshirt and makes it look more like a put together outfit) And those 'go dry' hoodies from old navy are awesome - warm, but no bulk. I do buy them each 2 or 3 pair of sneakers to switch off .......but they always wear sneakers. I get them each a pair of jeans, and khakis, and dress shoes. And I get the older one cargos b/c he'll wear them. My little guy wears his brother's hand me downs most of the time when we have an event to go to b/c honestly, a gorgeous sweater, or jacket and tie is worn twice at most ........ I make them get dressed up for picture day - that's about it.

Re: Back to school shopping ... Clothes?
My dd will have gym 3 days a week in K so we got a few pairs of sneakers. My dd is not a sneaker girl so I got sparkly more fashion sneakers in a few colors so she may like them better.I always get a pair of brown and black dress shoes, brown, black boots. Also a pair of new sandals for the beginning of school.
For clothes I did great at macys, Marshall's, amazon, 6pm, gymboree outlet, kohls

Back to school shopping ... Clothes?
My boys wear comfy clothes - I get most of it at Old Navy, Target, Childrens Place, Kohls and GAP.
My kids only wear sneakers, Crocs (in summer) and boots when it snows.

I was specifically asking about the shoes and asking about sales...but thanks anyway.
