Back when you were dating...

Did you ever do anything intentionally to turn a guy off?

I was once on a date with a guy who was really boring. I found myself telling him about the various run-ins I'd had with sick kids. When he said, "Wow, there's a lot of vomiting in your profession," I knew I wasn't going to have to screen my phone calls. Chat Icon

I also went out with this really annoying guy (just weeks before meeting DH which coincided with my thoughts about taking a looong break from dating). He did nothing but talk about himself. At one point he said, "So, is there anything else you want to know about me," and I just said, "No."

He was surprised later that night when I told him that I didn't want to go out again. Chat Icon

Yes, I definitely have. I've acted like a total prima donna beyotch to get a guy to run in the other direction - demanded gifts, acted like a brat, fought with him for no reason, it worked...eventually.

ohh yes...it was a blind date and I wished I was blind when I saw him!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I was so mean to him, I know it was wrong of me but i didnt know how else to get out of this date. We went for dinner and i used the old "I ripped my contact" bit to get him to drive me home. as soon as I got to my house i got out of the car and never looked back!!

Yes, but I would get really frustrated when being completely obnoxious didn't even work for some to get away. Some people just can't take a hint.

Yes - sooo many times Chat Icon (it goes with the territory when you dated as much as I did, pre-DH ..ESP. online dating, for ex. when you finally "meet" this person who was great online and then think "oh my Goodness, how the hell do I get OUT of this" Chat Icon

I never was really good at rejecting someone outright or flat out refusing to see them again, so I would do everything within my power to just be the date from hell so that he'd never even WANT to see me again Chat Icon i.e., constantly excusing myself from dinner, making cell phone calls in front of them, acting completely bored (i'm great at that)..

Sadly, they STILL did not always get the hint! That is when the "well I truly like you as a PERSON but just not in 'that way'" emails would realllly come into handy Chat Icon

Back in the day, I met a guy at a club and he was pestering me for my number, so I gave him my work number. When he called me, I told him I had another call coming in and put him on hold. I left him there while I went to make copies. He never called back. I wonder why?Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Back when you were dating...

definitely

a guy that i was dating i wouldnt let kiss me or anything...i think i was lonely and liked the idea of a companion but this guy was not someone i was very attracted to

he decided to take me on a weekend getaway to newport. i figured maybe after a few cocktails id fall for him...i dont know- it was dumb of me to go.

well...after a few cocktails i told him i wasnt attracted to him AT ALL and that he should date other girls....
it was soo mean of me....but he just wasnt my type and i wear my feelings on my sleeve

anyway we went back to the hotel. i fell asleep and when i woke up the next morning he was crying (in the same positon he was when i fell asleep the night before) and staring at me. we left and drove allllll the way home with him crying and talking to his mom about me on the phone as i pretended to sleep in the car ride home

worst car ride EVER!

and get this- he STILL called me after!

Re: Back when you were dating...

This is my life now!! However right now I am dating two guys who I actually like and am attracted to, we'll see what happens... HOwever my line if I go out with someone 2+ times is "I like you a lot, just think we are missing a romantic connection or chemistry." They don't argue with that!!

I am usually nice on the date but then when they call I just don't return the call. One guy kept calling and said on one of the messages " so i guess we are never goning to talk again hugh"...ummm yea...it was 3 weeks since we had gone out and his first message!! Chat Icon
