Backyard Wedding Help

My best friend is getting married in the backyard of his home. They want to keep it very low key and reasonably priced. He says hire someone to BBQ, she says wraps and sandwiches (afternoon wedding), and neither can agree. Both think the others idea is too casual.

Does anyone have any suggestions for food for a backyard wedding?

Re: Backyard Wedding Help

You can hire a restaurant that serves BBQ food and it's not "casual" - they have a wait staff, etc.

My friend hired:

Big Daddy's

For her backyard 40th Birthday last year. She had wait staff that wore the typical black and white outfits. It all depends on the rest of the presentation - plates, utensils, cups, table linens, etc.

LINKY

this is a blog that a lot of people over at the dave ramsey site talked about... because they had a pretty cool wedding for little money... then they all "dissed" the couple because they were living together before being married Chat Icon

anyway, i thought it was a pretty cool wedding. they involved a lot of their family/friends to participate... made it cozy and reduced expenses

Re: Backyard Wedding Help

My cousin had a backyard wedding. They hired caterers and had chafing dishes set up under tents in the yard. I had a friend who had one and most of the food was made by family and they set up a buffet in the kitchen.

Personally, I wouldn't mind going to a BBQ wedding, I think it would be fun! The wedding with the kitchen buffet was one of the most fun weddings I have ever been to!

And, IMO, I don't think a BBQ is classier than wraps, or vice versa. They are both foods I would consider the same - class-wise Chat Icon

Re: Backyard Wedding Help

What about a clam bake? I love that idea for a summer wedding. And they can spin off of sea/water colors for their decor.

We used Pelligrini's in Stewart Manor for our rehearsal dinner. They do an amazing job. We had burgers, steaks, lamb chops, hot dogs, chicken, etc. But they offer so much more too. They come, do all the cooking and serving, you can even hire a bartender!

I highly reccomend Fireside Caterers! They did our engagement party and were reasonable and wonderful! Google them and you can see all their menu options.
