Bad Baby Acne
My 5 week old has gotten some really bad baby acne in the last week or so. Every day it gets worse, and if she cries it FLARES up really bad. I know baby acne is normal, but what causes it and when does it go away? Does it go away on its own usually?

Re: Bad Baby Acne
I believe it's caused by your hormones in her system, but I would think at 5 weeks that should be coming to an end soon. Both my girls had it and my ped. recommeded Cetaphil soap.

My DD had this also and I started bathing her with Gentle Naturals baby eczema baby wash and I also use the face cream. It has worked on her so well.

Logan had it for a little while. At about 6 weeks it cleared completely and hasn't come back.

Re: Bad Baby Acne
At 7 weeks, Bella still has some and yes, it does flare up when she has a screaming fit. It gets better. It just has to run its course. One girl recommended plain Johnson's Baby Shampoo/wash and after I used it, I noticed a considerable decrease. Maybe you should try to switch what soap you're using.

Re: Bad Baby Acne
Kaitlyn has had this for two weeks now - it also gets worse when she cries. The ped told us to just leave it alone and it will go away on its own - but maybe I will try the suggestions above. Thanks!

Re: Bad Baby Acne
DS#1 had it and it goes away on its own. I have always heard not to touch it.
#2 now has it too now :(
All babies can get it, but BF babies will have it longer, since they are still getting your hormones in the BM

Re: Bad Baby Acne
My son has this too and its getting worse every day. It really flares up when he cries. I think BF babies and summer babies are prone to this. I have some burth bees soap here i am going to try tonight i also have the J&J plain soap. I was told to just leave it alone though and it will go away on its own really.

Re: Bad Baby Acne
Ainsley had a HORRIBLE case of baby acne at 4 weeks - lasted til around 7 weeks - but once we started using Johnson and Johnson's it got much better. Her skin was a bit dry from using it, but by 7 weeks we didnt need to use it anymore - now her skin is great and smooth.
