"bad words" are everywhere.
Im getting so fustrated with TV and movies today...
I feel like there is nothing safe for me to watch around DC- I find at night when I lay down and try to unwind, Im watching noggin or full house reruns because everything else has bad language in it...
Can someone tell me why they are allowed to say "b!tch" on a regular 7pm tv program????
Better yet- even disney movies have words like "idiot and moron" (101 dalmations) or "Stupid" (Bugs life). These to me are still bad words and NOT what I want my toddler repeating!!!!!!
I have a "bad" mouth and make GREAT strides to watch what Im saying- better yet, my DH has a terrible mouth, and I cant tell you the battle it was to get him to recognize its NOT OK and to change his ways. Its so fustrating that even when putting on a disney movie- I have to censor whats going on...
I have taught my son that these words are "soap" words (once DS repeated "shut up" and experienced what soap word means...) and even when I slip and call something stupid he'll chim in and say "Dont say that mommy" Which IMO- its great he recognizes right from wrong, but TV is rarely used in this house, and it would be nice to lay on the couch at night and relax without having to wonder what DS will hear in the next room...

Re: "bad words" are everywhere.
We were out shopping on saturday and there was a "lovely" woman who was incessantly telling her kids to "shut up". Well, to our surprise, Taylor started repeating it over and over again while walking around the store.

Re: "bad words" are everywhere.
Jared was watching Thomas the Train and one of the engines said..."Shut up!"
Just what I needed.

Re: "bad words" are everywhere.
I was shocked how many times the word Jackazz was used in Pinocchio.

Re: "bad words" are everywhere.
That's part of the reason the AMA said no TV for kids under a certain age - they found so many instances of "objectionable words" on regular and kid-focused TV.
I'm also a potty mouth so I have to be super careful, we only watch Backyardigans and Sesame Street on TV here because DS is suddenly repeating lots of things.

Re: "bad words" are everywhere.
I couldnt protect him from all those words, because yes they are everywhere.
So instead we focused on teaching him what words were right and wrong. He may hear it but knows he is not allowed to say it.

Re: "bad words" are everywhere.
Not a bad word but DS now loves the word "MINE" and thinks everything is his because of Stingy from Lazy Town....If a kid has something in his hands, he will walk over and say "mine" and then will try to take it away!!!
