bags on ebay
I am currently 'window shopping' (yeah right!!!) on ebay for a Louis Vuitton bag. I never shop on ebay, so I am a little skeptical about buying something authentic from the site.
I am noticing that most of the sellers will put 100% authentic in their ads, but can you really trust this? Does anyone know a trustworthy seller that they can recommend?
I know that there are some big time bag experts on this site , so I am hoping they can help me..
Thanks a bunch!

Re: bags on ebay
I would check out the sellers feedback. you click on their # of feedbacks and then read through some of the items they sold and what the buyer had to say. that's what I always do, no matter what the purchase.

So, if the seller has 100% positive feedback and they are stating in their ad it's authentic, would you go for the purchase?

Re: bags on ebay
There was a special on 20/20 or one of those shows about a month ago about all of the knock offs on ebay. They said many of them were listed as "authentic" and had excellent feedback.
They even sell copies of store invoices on ebay, to say thats the original receipt from the purchase of the bag up for auction.
Before you purchase, I would find out where the bag was purchased, do they have the original receipt. More importantly, what is their return policy? You can bring your bag to a LV retailer and ask them to authenticate it for you.
Make sure you pay thru paypal, so you have protection to file a claim if the seller is a fraud.

I check and see what some of the previous sales the seller had and if they were other similar bags. then see what the buyer had to say. a lot of times the buyer will say something like "authentic as stated" or "exactly as described".
also, make sure that he/she has a return policy if it does turn out to be fake.
this is JMO but I have heard SO many nightmare stories on fake bags from eBay, I personally wouldn't bother.

Re: bags on ebay
Becareful!!! I purchased an LV bag about 2 years ago that said 100% authentic, had reciept, dust bag, tags everything- they had excellent feedback- turned out to be a FAKE- a mirror image- the reciept was fake it was from eluxury.com I emailed them and they had no record of that order number and then I found on yahoo and on ebay where you can buy a template to make eluxury receipts!!!!! I let them know!!!! I was so ******, long story short the seller was in Canada- ebay nixed them and I got "some" of my money back. I literally had to do detective work got the persons name and address gave it to my cousin who is an attorney and thats how I got some money back, I had to pay for some international bullsheet fee so I lost money there twice!!!! shipping it back to seller and paying for that shipping to begin with! since then I have NOT purchased anymore bags off of ebay.

I bought a Fendi on eBay several yrs ago and it's the real deal, I checked it out. but these days it is too risky. if I really wanted an expensive bag, I would save up for it or wait until a b-day or the holidays.

I may end up doing that, unless I can find a trustworthy vendor..

My mom got a coach that they said was real. When she got it, the handles didn't even fit on it.

Re: bags on ebay
all the bags I sell are real- not everyone is a crook
but I either sell ones I no longer need- or buy real ones at places like off 5th - when they go on sale
LV bags are the only brand I can think of that NEVER goes on sale or gets discounted- so I would stay away from buying LV on ebay- unless it's used
if it sounds to good to be true- it is

Beth your'e right not everyone is a crook.
Before purchasing just really do your homework. look up websites for the bag you are looking to buy with mirror image in the search, look for serial numbers and compare. Most of the mirror image photos give serial numbers!!! thats how I found out.

Re: bags on ebay
I highly recommend paying a visit to the Purse Forum, aka tPF (you may find ebay auctions where the seller indicates they are a member of "tPF".) Those folks can help you authenticate a specific ebay auction or give you info on how to identify fakes. (There are different boards dedicated to different designers to help you out.)

Re: bags on ebay
I recommend www.mypoupette.com to verify that the bag is authentic BEFORE purchasing - it will only cost you $5.00 - well worth the headache for getting a fake one - trust me I Know (Not LV but another designer). I used them to prove non-authenticity and it worked out to my advantage. I HIGHLY recommend them - they are primarily LV authenticators.

Re: bags on ebay
I would be wary of the sellers who sell lots and lots of "designer" bags, you have to think to yourself, "where are they getting ALL these bags from?" If I bought a bag from ebay, I would only buy a used bag - peolple who bought one and used it a couple of times and didn't like it - that kind of seller is usually selling the real deal.

Exactly what I was thinking. Although it's hard to find a used LV bag without tons of defects.

You still have to be very cautious with "Like New" or "Pre-Loved" handbags. Sometimes the sellers don't know it's a fake or they find out it is a fake and want to unload it.
You really need to know your stuff when hunting on Ebay for designer goods.

I agree, I would actually have more faith in a used bag thatn a "NWT authentic" on ebay. There are so many 10 star & Mirror image bags out there it is very hard to tell what is real or fake.
