Bahamas with a 2 year old?
we have the opportunity this summer to got to the Atlantis in the Bahamas for a week. DS will be a little over 2 years old and we are a little nervous to do the trip. We will ahve my BIL, SIL and MIL there with us in the next room. It's just the thought of lugging all his stuff on the plane and even though he's a great toddler now what if hes cranky or moody, or sick. tell me we are nuts and should just do it (DH brother is giving us 1 of his timeshares there, its a 1 bedroom condo with a kitchen and washer dryer). I also found a cheap flight so it is so reasonable. The other problem is we would like to TTC for #2 this summer and i had a rough pregnancy with my DS, i would hate to be pregnant and miserable on the trip and we dont want to put TTC #2 on hold (i do know i may not get pregnant right away so that's another reason to go-why should I put my life on hold) Has anyone taken a trip out of the country with their toddler and what advice do you have?? TIA

You should absolutely go.
I went to Italy when Jack was 13 months. It wasn't ideal but I'm happy we went!

Re: Bahamas with a 2 year old?
i'd do it in a heartbeat!! if i wasn't PG right now i would book a trip with DD and DH. DD is almost 2 (next month) and she is really well-behaved. i love this age and the fact that you'll have family there to help is a bonus! don't worry too much about TTC #2. you just never know how that works out-it took me 3 months this time to conceive. i think once you are PG and then baby #2 is here it could be a long time until you get an opportunity to go! good luck whatever you decide!

Definately go!!! You'll have a blast and even if you get pregnant you'll be really early. Sounds like a great trip!

Re: Bahamas with a 2 year old?
My DS has been to the Dominican Republic twice, Cancun, Florida, NC and on a cruise to Canada
I say go for it ! Its really not all that bad at all...Bring a DVD player for the flight and in the room, in case they don't have kid friendly stations...Pack lightly ( I'm bad about this but am learning my lesson) - especially if you have a washer and dryer...They wear bathing suits most of the time anyway !
If you are TTC #2, I would definately buy the travel insurance for your flight...I was pg in Sept and we were supposed to go to PR, I got put on bed-rest and we ended up paying all kinds of fees to postpone
We stpped over to the Atlantis on another cruise we went on a few years back and its absolutely gorgeous..You'll have a blast !!!

Re: Bahamas with a 2 year old?
I would go in a heartbeat!!! We were actually planning a trip for the fall (DS would be about 2 1/2) before I found out I was pregnant with twins.
Atlantis is sooooo kids friendly and the condos are great - you can bring in food for him, and go back to the room when needed. I think it would be OK - it is work to travel with kids but I would do it.
