Ballet shoe fit - toddler
Went to a studio to look for ballet shoes. The salesperson brought out a pair without any measuring or asking shoe size. Put them on and declared they were perfect. There was more than an inch room at the toe. They were 3 full sizes larger than DD's sneakers (which already have room) if that matters. Idk how dance shoe sizes work, which is why I was going to a studio... Anyway, I didn't like the price and didn't trust the fit, so I am going to payless probably. Aren't ballet shoes supposed to be closer to the size of the foot?

I got dds at Payless. I had to size up a full size. She measures a 7 but had to buy an 8. They fit her foot snugly. Her regular size I couldn't even get on her foot.

I would think they shouldn't be too big, because you don't want your DD to be tripping over them as she's dancing. I got canvas ballet shoes for my dd. They're easier to adjust to the size of the foot with a little drawstring that gathers or lets out the fabric to get a good fit. I ordered them on eBay, and I think I've seen them at payless too.

I teach dance and find that dance shoes never run true to street shoe sizing. Ballet slippers shouldn't have a ton of room up front, but you do want a little extra since kids feet grown so fast. If you can fold up the front end of her shoe, then they're too big.

My dd wears a 7 street shoe, and her ballet shoe is 11. The instructor tried the size smaller, which was a tight fit.

DD wears a size 7 shoe and her ballet slippers are a size 9. There is a little room for growth. The size smaller would be just the right fit and would have to get another pair half way through the year.

I did the same thing. DD is usually a size 8 but needed a size 10 in Payless.

They run small especially the payless ones. My dd wears a size 9 and I had to get a 10 1/2.

Payless is funny with their dance shoe sizes... Their ballet shoes are small and tap shoes are big. I have the same brand for both and dds ballet are snug at a 7.5 but Tap she has room to grow in a 7. Annoying. So I always have to go to the store to try on. I find capezio's are true to size for her but just really narrow so we go for the wide.
