Baptismal Parties... Locations? Suggestions?
Hey...
I'm trying to locate a place to have dinner after Gianna's baptism, and so far either places are all booked up, or they're asking riDICulous prices per person.
Where did you hold your dinner party after your DC's baptism/christening? How much was it per person? Was there a minimum # of people that needed to be invited in order to hold the room?
Thanks!!!

We had my son's christening party at Villa D'Avanzo's in Smithtown. I believe it was 26 or 27/person and that included a salad, pasta and main course. (Plus unlimited beer, wine, soda, tea and coffee.) You had to bring in a cake from outside. There was no minimum (the room could prob. accomodate 60-70 people).

Try the Wantagh Inn. I had my rehearsal dinner there and they have a private room upstairs and it wasn't a lot of money.

Re: Baptismal Parties... Locations? Suggestions?
We did DS's party in the private room at Villa PizzaRe in Patchogue. They were SUPER flexible. We paid $16 per head for a pasta dish (got like 6 choices) and only had to add something like $2 for the plates that wanted chicken, veal, or eggplant. This included water and soda and we ran a tab for the beer/wine (running a tab was a heck of a lot cheaper than charging everyone at the party). We also supplied the cake which was better for us because I got a great deal at Stop and Shop and everyone said it was very tasty.

I booked The Irish Coffee Pub, but looked at a few others...
Irish Coffee Pub (East Islip): $39 + $19 for unlimited beer and wine
La Famiglia (Smithtown): $35 for family style, beer, wine
Cafe Rustica (Smithtown): $43 wine, beer
Blue (Blue Point): $53 beer, wine
Mangia Mangia (Patchogue): $43, beer, wine
Brickhouse Brewery (Patchogue): $43 beer, wine
Good luck!

In your area I agree with this! The Wantagh Inn is great! We have had a bunch of parties there over the years and we know the owners.

Re: Baptismal Parties... Locations? Suggestions?
We are looking at the Elks Lodge in Smithtown as a possiblilty for a Baptismal party. They have a great room and good deal on food and it is close to our church.
I know it isn't close to you though.

Re: Baptismal Parties... Locations? Suggestions?
I don't remember the price, because we had it at a place where a family member works and we got a deal.
I did want to say that I was told to run a tab for the drinks instead of paying the per person price for beer and wine. Usually for a baptism or a communion, people aren't drinking that heavily and it will probably cost you less to just pay for the individual drinks.

Re: Baptismal Parties... Locations? Suggestions?
I'm not sure where you're looking but I had DD's at the Old Street Pub in Smithtown. The food was delicious and I think it was around $20pp. I agree with running a tab for drinks. They charge you about $5pp extra on all the adult meals, which usually starts at age 16 (or somewhere in the mid-teens) and you know those people aren't drinking. Also, my baptism was on a Sunday afternoon and I really didn't think people would drink that much. It ended up being cheaper this way in the long run (I also limited the "open" bar to beer, wine, and top shelf liquor -- no premium liquors).

We rented a club house in Moriches on the water and had food brought in. I dont know if thats the route you would want to go but it worked out really well for us.. we had her party in July.
We used the Steer Seller for food, and they set up, served and cleaned up too.

Re: Baptismal Parties... Locations? Suggestions?
We used John Harvards near the Smithhaven Mall. We liked it because it was alittle different being a “brewhouse” We paid I think about $25pp which include the meal and dessert (we also brought in a cake) Then we paid to have a beer sampler table, it’s a set price for X amount of pitchers and DH got to pick the different beers. Then when one pitcher runs out it was $11 per pitcher after that. Their pricing was all on their website! And they were very accommodating I would say the room fit 60ish.

Vincent's food is yummy, but they don't have a private room.
We did ours in Domenico's in Levittown. The food and service were great. They have like 3 options we took one that was like $20 pp. And there were plenty of choices for people to choose from.

Re: Baptismal Parties... Locations? Suggestions?
We had Rylans at Irish Times in Holbrook. They were great and the food was delish!!
$25.50 adults $12.50 kids 12 kids under 3 free 18% gratuity 8.625 tax
We ran a bar tab instead of paying per head which they suggested. It was a great idea because we ended up only paying $325 for the tab. It would have been an extra $20pp for full bar.
