Bar/Club in the City for a birthday party?
My sister will be turning 21 in July and she wants to celebrate by going out to a bar or club in the city. We are looking for a place that will let us pay a certain amount (like $30/$40 pp) for open bar for a few hours. She wants a place with a dance floor. She prefers pop and hiphop, not techno music. Also, her friends will be there and so will Dh &I with some of our friends (as we all hang out together often) we are 28-30. So, we need a place where her friends won't feel like it's all "old people" and where we won't feel like the oldest people there! I haven't gone out in the city in a few years, so I don't even know what's out there anymore!
Any suggestions?

there are a lot of bars on 2nd avenue. i personally always liked sutton place or turtle bay. you have to call the bars in order to make a deal about the price with them.
there is also a company called privatepartyroom.com. you call them and they will set you up in a private room in several different bars. you could have your own bathroom, bartender and even play beer pong. my sister is paying $35 for 3 hours of fun!

I actually like both of those places too. IMO, I think Turtle Bay would be better for 21 yr olds as far as music goes though. I also LOVED Providence back in my clubbin days. They play great music! One day (either Fri. or Sat.) is probably house music though so make sure you check with the clubs. Another cool spot is Branch! Great music.
