Barely eating solids anymore...
I don't know if it's her teething or what but Emily is barely eating solids anymore.
I can't get her babyfood in her at ALL and even with the table food she's putting up a fuss. Last night we tried chicken, rice -- normal things that she used to love, and she's just not eating them.
I'm concerned because she's pretty much only eating her bottles -- this has been going on for about a week's time.

Melissa you have just described my last week with Antonio. I am going crazy! It is so hard when a baby does not want to eat. I called the doctor and they said it is normal. they told me as long as he is wetting diapers and drinking his formula he is fine. But I still worry!
Yesterday he ate 2 bites of pancake, 1 tiny bit of peach and 1/2 a jar of baby food.
He is on a milk and puffs diet only!

Re: Barely eating solids anymore...
yes! emily is loving her puffs, cheerios, wagon wheels and cheese -- lol, but i can't get anything else in her!!
i am going to try making her some pastina with cheese for lunch and hopefully she'll take that.
and i'll try the fozen banana in the teether net trick also -- we haven't done that in a while but she's not getting any fruit at all in!
she's still having plenty of pp diapers and 2 BMs a day --- they are just not the solid BMs like she used to have --- i'm just worried because she hasn't increased her milk intake -- so i'm concerned about calories.

Yes -- Emily does the same thing. SHe puts her arms up and starts waving them in front of her and fussing so that I can't get it anywhere near her mouth. I am thinking that the puffs, cheerios, wagon wheels and cheese are still OK with her because she can control it completely -- I think it's part independence and part really really bad teething.
Does Antonio have any teeth yet? Emily still has none but she has round bulb looking swollen parts behind her bottom two spots -- so I think those will be in soon --- it's more swollen then I've ever seen them but then again I've thought she was close since about 5 months!
She also seems to be pressing on her top gums with her fingers too so I think she might be getting all 4 at once but I wouldn't know since she doesn't let me look up there!

She could be getting all for at once. Antonio has the two bottom, the teething was not this bad last time. I think it is his two top I heard they are very painful.
We have tough little cookies on our hands. I try to smoosh some egg behind his puff but he peels it off!

Ughhhh we're going throught he same thing! The other night I tried baby food..NO...then I made her cous cous with chicken....NO....finally she ate mac n cheese but I hate that this and string cheese is becoming a staple. This morning I tried yogurt....NO....then a waffle...NO and finally she ate a jar of baby food. It's so frustrating and I hate wasting so much food.

Re: Barely eating solids anymore...
well, i'm glad we're not the only ones going through this. i don't care so much for waisting food as I am just concerned that she's not getting enough. she is also still a bit stuffed up from her cold (or teething?) so i'm sure that has something to do with it!

Re: Barely eating solids anymore...
we had a week like that too...she just pursed those little lips together and it was a no go... I had to be happy with her cheerio consumption and formula...
ETA: I worried until this past dr appt, when I realized that she had gained 1lb 8oz in a little over a month...the dr said they are like us more now, sometimes they just aren't hungry.

Re: Barely eating solids anymore...
It's also been very hot and sometimes they just don't feel like eating a lot. Maybe you could try something cool like yogurt on a spoon w/ some baby fruit. Even try ice cream to see if they will take it.
Also maybe try limiting the milk to see if they are more hungry for solid foods.
If you are still giving formula and they are taking it don't worry about nutrition since it is a complete meal. If they are over 1 you can try giving pediasure for a complete meal.
