Bars in Kings Park?
I am looking for a bar in the Kings Park area to go to after a family reunion. It's the day of the Smithtown Festival so I not going onto Main Street Smithtown. It is a large family, mixed ages, so I was looking for somewhere a little nicer/lower key. My DH said The Upper Deck or The Lower Deck but I did a search and cannot find anything about these places. Any suggestions would be great, I am not familiar with that area. Thanks!
ETA: OK I just found out it was renamed DS Shanahans. Has anyone been there before? It appears to be a dive....DH said there was another one on the water somewhere down there....wish I could find that one....

Re: Bars in Kings Park?
Ooh, what day is the Smithtown Fair? I LOVE going to that
Try Shenanigans in Kings Park. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall kinda place, but unique enough that not a lot of people go, so you will all have room to party

There is Celtic Crossing on Pulaski, the one on the water is a restaurant with a bar... I cant remember the name but it's at the boat ramps. The other place is a dive. I haven't been to any of them in years.

Is DS Shanahan's the one close to the psych center? If so, my friend's hubby's band plays there and I've always had a good time.

Re: Bars in Kings Park?
From KP - youre best bets are Shanahans (but during the day, they get a young crowd at night) and its not a hole in the wall at all.
Celtic Crossing is your best bet. Its the def the nicest of the bars in town, DH used to bartend there. Its generally an older crowd too, not too many kids.
Do not go to Main St Rub, Ryans, or Pastimes...well pastimes is nice, the crowd is young and sometimes so so.

haha the Upper Dock. I tried getting in there when I was 16 with a fake ID. The girl that gave me the id had no clue that the id she gave me was my spanish teacher.

Annie, there is also the Park Lounge right on 25A (by my house ) It's pretty small but nice, an older crowd but DH and I have been there a few times and the bartenders are great and always treat us well.

Re: Bars in Kings Park?
I love DS Shannahans and their wings are AWESOME!! They have a juke box, darts, pool table and bubble hockey (i think) ....
In the summer they do bonfires in the back! :)
It's not super nice, but it's not a dive either!

Re: Bars in Kings Park?
Go to Shanahans!
The place by the water is a restaurant (Old Dock).
