Basal Body Thermom.?
I kept reading on here to get a basal body thermometer to help chart temps. I was at the store yesterday and saw a pink Omron thermometer that said Basal Thermometer. Well, it's just like the other one I have. Isn't the basal one supposed to read to the hundreth? This one only showed 97.1, and the book says it only shows 1 decimal?

I have a cheapy purple one that I got at CVS (CVS brand) that has been fine and yes it does do temps such as 97.23 (you do need to get one that has the additional number)

Re: Basal Body Thermom.?
When you chart you only use to the tenths place, so I don't see why you'd need to the hundredths. My thermometer has to the hundredts and I just round to the nearest tenth when I chart my temps. It sounds like the one you have is just fine, I think.

Ok so I just went to FF and put in a temp to the nearest hundredth (98.08 as opposed to 98.1) and it *does* show a difference! So ... I guess to the nearest hundredth is more accurate (and chartable!) but in the grand scheme of your chart, not going to make a difference in seeing changes.

Re: Basal Body Thermom.?
Thanks ladies! I'm so annoyed- it has info all over the front of it saying it will help track fertility, etc., like it was marketed that way, and it doesn't do 2 decimal places. UGH!!!

Oh, really!! THANK YOU, I was so frustrated that they marketed it as a 'fertility aid' and it wasn't 2 decimals! Thanks for the reassurance

Re: Basal Body Thermom.?
I think TCOYF specifically says not to get the one that does hundredths. Now I have to remember where in that huge book I saw it .
1 decimal place is fine.

Yes I think so too! Which is why when I got mine w/ hundredths I was disappointed and have been charting to the nearest tenth for the last 5 mos!
