basal thermometer - first time...

Hi, I broke down & bought one. Now, how exactly should I use it? I know they say first thing in the morning, but for the entire cycle? I am already on day 12, but my cycle is about 36-40 days, so I have plenty of time to chart! I guess I can begin tomorrow, right?

Also, a stupid question - how do I put the thermometer in my mouth - under the tongue? Which end of it goes in? WOW, you can tell I'm not a mom!! LOL, soooo clueless.

Any quick info would be greatly appreciated!!

It works like a regular digital thermometer, under the tongue. I started temping mid-cycle, but more for birth control at this point than ttc. If you chart it takes a few cycles to find a pattern anyway.

Under the tongue, and take your temperature the same time every morning. You need at least 3 hours of sleep before taking it.

make sure it is the first thing before you do ANYTHING..don't get up, eat/drink, go to the bathroom...just wake up and grab the BBT!

It's really not that bad. Takes about 2 minutes and it's over.
The hardest part is remembering the temp....so I'd suggest leaving paper and a pen by your bed to jot it down quickly.

It wont' work if you don't do it first thing in the morning though, so that part of it is very important!

I agree with sasha96
you should also try to take it around the same time, or as close to the same time every day.
