Baseboard vs. Radiator Heating
We're looking to update our heating system in our home. The only problem is, we don't know which one to convert with...my dad swears by the baseboard system and the contractor says that radiators are best b/c they stay hot for the longest amount of time. However, I'm worried that a couch in front of a radiator may stop heat from circulating whereas a baseboard heater will cover an entire wall.
Any opinions - greatly appreciated!!!!! xoxoxoxo

Re: Baseboard vs. Radiator Heating
We had radiators in our old apt. and they were bulky and seemed to take forever to warm up and then to warm up the room. The new house has baseboard and I find it to work so much better plus they look nicer too.

Re: Baseboard vs. Radiator Heating
When we bought our house, there were regular radiators. We changed every room to baseboard. It takes up alot less space, you can put furniture in front of it and the heat still kicks!

Your contractor is correct. My old house had both... radiators downstairs and baseboard upstairs in the additions that was not original to the house. Radiators (even old ones) heat more effciently and personally, I hate the noise that baseboards make. With baseboards the rooms always seem either too cold or too warm.
My new house was built in 1971 and it only has baseboards throughout... I wish it had radiators.

Re: Baseboard vs. Radiator Heating
I find our baseboard heaters work great The only downside I can see to this is that any furniture you want has to be in front of the heater and therefore not flush against the wall. But that's only where the heaters are anyway.

Re: Baseboard vs. Radiator Heating
Baseboard all the way! HATE Radiators. I grew up in a house with baseboard and my first apt was baseboard. Until recently I had radiators and HATED! In the places I've been they did NOT heat the house evenly and just ugly! Now the apt we're in has baseboard heat and we're happy again.
