I gave a $250.00 Savings Bond. This was 6 years ago.

Re: Bat Mitzvah question
Good lord- I received checks for $18 and $36 in 1992. Yes, they were cheap azz's. Still, that sounds very high. I would think $100 from a co-worker is a nice gift.

I remember going to a bunch in junior high and I would give $36. I think that $100 is a generous gift.

Re: Bat Mitzvah question
is still customary to give incraments of $18? I haven't been invited to one in sooooooooooooooooooooo long. but I will be soon - my cousin's son is having one in June.

yes, that's still customary. In fact, the majority of the gifts we received for our wedding (even from our non-jewish guests) were in incraments of $18.

I think that's an appropriate number- also taking into consideration that it's an incrament of 18.
