Bat Mitzvah question.
How long is a Bat Mitzvah ceremony? The invite is for 9:30 am and there's a Kiddush at Shule and luncheon to follow at the house. I'm thinking it may not be a great idea to bring my kids to the ceremony (just the luncheon).
Is it "acceptable" to have young children (who may be disruptive at times ) there?

Re: Bat Mitzvah question.
Its acceptable, but truthfully the ceremony is REALLY boring and most of it not in English. It would probably be best not to bring them.

Re: Bat Mitzvah question.
If it's a Saturday morning service, it can easily run from 9:30-11:30 or 12, depending on the synagogue. It is likely that the Bar Mitzvah boy will not do his part until 10:30 or so. Actually, I rarely go to a Saturday morning service on time for a Bar Mitzvah b/c the service is LONG.
That said, it should be perfectly accepted to have children at the service. Some rabbis and congregations are more "child-friendly" than others, but children should always be welcome.
ETA: Oops - I meant Bat Mitzvah girl, not Bar Mitzvah Boy!

Re: Bat Mitzvah question.
Thanks for your responses ladies! I'm thinking we won't bring the kids. It's DH's niece so it's important that we be there for the entire ceremony. No amount of snacks and toys would make my boys sit still for 2+ hours.
Thanks again!
