Bath question
When you give DC a bath do you use soap on their face? I remember them telling us in the baby care class to just use a wet washcloth with no soap, but I wasn't sure how long we have to do that.
eta: If you use soap, do you remember when you started?

I was just using water too, but Dh wanted to use soap because he doesn't think the water gets her face really clean.

Re: Bath question
DD is almost three mos. Just water here too! I saw on TV that even adults (who don't wear make-up) can also use just water.

Re: Bath question
We used a wet cotton ball in the beginning b/c we read it somewhere. Then she had that baby acne breakout so I started using the baby shampoo based on some LIF recommendations but it didn't work for us so we started using cetaphil and just kept using it from then on. I use the wet cotton ball to take it off.

Re: Bath question
I guess I'm in the minority - the first thing I do is put the washcloth in clean warm soapy water and wash her face. It doesn't seem to bother her.
eta: I used only water when I was still doing the spongebath...

I use water for their eyes and ears, but soap on their faces. Never heard not to.

Re: Bath question
I was told in the hospital to only use water on faces and ears so I've stuck to that...

Re: Bath question
I use the Aveeno baby on Julia's face, I wouldn't feel she was clean if I just used water....
When she was an infant I did just use water and a wash cloth, but as they get older its good to use a little soap on there face, JMO!

Re: Bath question
We used Dove soap - from her first bath on - I think using a small amount of soap is important for their faces and diaper areas, if nothing else because even at birth they need to be cleaned. Their faces can get dirty from feedings, spit up, etc.

Re: Bath question
We have been using a little of the johnsons and johnsons baby wash on her face when we give her a bath. I dont feel that water cleans her face especially when she is spitting up and drooling all day long. I started with her first bath.

I use the J&J head to toe and put it in the water and use that water for his face.

Re: Bath question
DD is almost 7 months and I still use just water on her face even though her soap is tear free. I never actually thought about it until now. Maybe I should start using soap.

Re: Bath question
I've always used soapy water on her face. She's never had a reaction. I just think that in order to really be clean, she needs the soap!
