Bathing the Baby
My son is 9 days old. The dr told us today that when we bathe him, we should just use water, not soap. Does everyone do this? Or do you guys use soap?
And its not like he has sensitive skin that we know of....

I gave a sponge bath with J&J head to toe and water until her stump came off...then in the tub with J&J and water
eta: the nurses in the hospital did it and even gave me free samples to take home.

Re: Bathing the Baby
We used J&J head to toe baby wash from day 1-the nurses even used that in the hospital to bathe DD for the 1st time after she was born.

Re: Bathing the Baby
I listened to the doctors and just used water at first. You guys are all such rebels - LOL. It wouldn't be fun to find out your baby has sensitive skin by giving him a full body rash at 10 days old!

eta. my pediatrican didn't say use water only. Also since he had a sponge bath with it, he didnt' have any reaction.

Re: Bathing the Baby
I used organic soap from day one. No problems. But like everyone else, I gave her a sponge bath until the belly button stump came off.

Well, my theory was if she was going to have super sensitive skin and baby soap bothered her, I'd rather find out sooner than later. A rash at 10 days and a rash at 3 weeks is no different IMO
