Bathroom renovation costs

I'm trying to save up for a bathroom renovation (I'd like to gut it) and have no idea about how much it will cost
Does anyone mind sharing how much their Reno cost?
We would be doing it all - new floor, tub, walls etc
Also - about How long does it take?

It's a small bathroom - maybe 8x10

Bathroom renovation costs

Look in the pennysaver or this week paper's. There are usually contractors that advertise full bathroom remodels for 4-6k.
My mom did one of these a few years ago. She got to pick any fixtures, tub, tile, toilet, etc she wanted and it was $4995 soup to nuts. It was a full gut and they needed to replace the ceiling. She did not have any plumbing moved. She was so happy with the way the bathroom turned out she hired the same company to do her kitchen.

Re: Bathroom renovation costs

Depending on how much you want to do, whether you need to move pipes, electrical, etc, and what kinds of materials you'll be using for your counter, medicine cabinet and tub, etc...a good estimate is $10k for a bathroom.

You can save by using certain vanities over others, you can splurge by putting in a custom, mirrored medicine cabinet or a whirlpool in the tub. Things add up here and there, but everyone I know who has done their bathrooms has been in the $10k range.

Re: Bathroom renovation costs

It really depends on what kind of materials you use and how long you want it last. We are doing 2 bathrooms in our house. Materials for each bathroom are about 6k. We have free labor since my brother who is a contractor is doing them for us but he told me for our bathrooms it would be about 11k for each.

Re: Bathroom renovation costs

My small bathroom cost 12k soup to nuts but I had custom vanity and medicine cabinet and did half-tiles on walls (full tile in tub). Would have been less if I didn't tile the walls and didn't go with custom!

We did a lot if diy and it cost under 1500k.
We did new tub, new tile floor, subway tile throughout. We kept the toilet and pedestal sink since they were new when we moved in...

Re: Bathroom renovation costs

I got a bunch of quotes last year and they were all between 8-12 thousand. That was with nothing extra. My bathroom is small (5x8).

Re: Bathroom renovation costs

DH is planning to eventually do ours himself and said even with that, we should probably set aside about 5 or 6 grand.

And ours is pretty tiny.

Re: Bathroom renovation costs

DH did ours. It is a small bathroom as well and it costs us around $7000. Again that is with DH doing the work.

DH gutted ours, put up new walls, ceiling, floors, fixed piping, new vanity, toilet, fixtures, lights, mosaic tiles all the way up to the ceiling and along the wall with the bathtub (we had the tub reglazed since its an old cast iron tub).

He is now redoing one of my mom bathrooms in her house (same as above - small bathroom, gutted and everything new) and he's estimating it be around $4000. This is a bit higher than it should be because my mom wants glass shower doors around the entire shower portion (it was wall and tile before) so the doors are driving the reno price up a bit.

Re: Bathroom renovation costs

we did ours ourselves.
It cost us about $8K in materials.
This includes a kraftmaid double vanity with linen tower , drawers and shelving ($3K) and granite counters ($1.6k), new tub ($500), Floor tiles, half wall, full wall in tub area and accent tiles ($1.2K).
Those were the big ticket items.
Our bath is about 8x8ish....

DH renovated all three of our full baths. The first is very small, we spent less than $2,500 on materials. We moved a wall and moved all the plumbing. That was about 5 years ago. Labor would have been approx $2,000
Our hall bath we purchased Newport brass faucets which were a splurge and carrera marble basket weave accent tile, another splurge. We spent about 5k on materials in that bathroom. We didn't move any walls or plumbing but we added lighting. Labor there would have been approx $4,000
Our master bath was a big reno, we expanded it,reconfigured closets, moved all the plumbing, added several different lights on separate switches, did a tiny addition on the house to make it bigger, radiant heat, added an air tub, large glass shower and custom vanities. We spent about $7k on materials for that bathroom. Because of the addition the labor for this would have been over 20k
I think the materials you pick play the biggest part in the variation of price.

Re: Bathroom renovation costs

The base price of mine was $8k, but I upgraded to a jetted tub. Then, a few small issues popped up along the way, and in the end it was just over $10k for a full gut, 7x10 bathroom.
