Bathroom wall color?
The house we're buying has an older bathroom - the tiles in the tub and and the tub itself are pink - I mean pink, pink. We are not replacing either - just getting a new vanity and painting the walls - what color? Just a cream or white is all I can think of to tone things down a bit. ANy other ideas?

Re: Bathroom wall color?
Maybe you can do a brown and pink bathroom. I love those colors together. You could paint the walls a medium brown if you don't want it too dark and buy chocolate brown towels. And accessories to match.
Or you could do Pink and Black or Pink and gray. HTH!

Re: Bathroom wall color?
we have the same problem in our master bath. pink tiles with black tile border, with a pink vanity cabinet to boot. the walls currently have a pink and white heart wall paper on them (complete with pink paint ceiling).
We're going to strip the wall paper and paint with an off white color. The bathroom is so small, I'm afraid that anything else will make it seem even smaller than it already is.

Re: Bathroom wall color?
we had the same problem in our old co-op, and the bathroom was small! But with a little accessories and color choices, it toned down the old pink tiles.
BTW we were originally going to reglaze the tiles, but ended up selling our co-op. I would also look in to tile-reglazing.

Re: Bathroom wall color?
They can be painted. The tiles in my bathroom were originally blue (house built in 1962).
I bought the house with the tiles already painted but we know they were blue because when we replaced the toilets, we could see it.
I think they look fine painted. My guess is they used some sort of primer. You could always ask your local hardware store.

Re: Bathroom wall color?
Found this article on painting tile. It suggests this method only for tile that occasionally gets wet; not for tiles in the shower.

this sounds exactly like a house we looked at in e. northport
i never realized someone could like pink so much!
if you are getting a darker vanity, i would go with tan or cream colored walls. if you go with a lighter vanity, then i think you can go darker on the walls.

Re: Bathroom wall color?
Master bath of our new house has peachy/pink roman tub and vanities. Definitely cannot redo yet. Going to paint an off-white to keep room light and airy looking.

Re: Bathroom wall color?
This was all so helpful -thanks everyone! I like the idea of brown and pink - if we do a light vanity I'll do that, and if we do a darker color - I'll do the cream.
