Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor
Has anyone been to their shows? are they well known in Long Island?
Thoughts?
I am thinking of applying for a job/internship there, although I'm sure Sag Harbor is too far

Re: Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor
I've been to shows there. My family has a summer house in Montauk and we'd go there to see shows. It was wonderful when I was going there. A lot famous people do shows there too.
Are you planning on commuting from the city or western LI? It may be fairly impossible. With NO traffic. Sag Harbor is between a half hour and two hours from the city. Probably more. It is a wonderful town though.
My sister commutes from her apartment in Selden to Southampton and it is horrible.

I had no idea Sag Harbor was that far. I don't know Suffolk well.
They have housing out there, and it's only a summer thing. I don't know if I would want to live out there for the summer, but if it's not a good program I wouldn't even bother, KWIM?

summer is the best time to live there! though, the traffic stinks then... but its living in the hamptons for the summer (its basically between bridgehampton and east hampton).
not a commute i'd ever do from queens though. or, even nassau, or even western suffolk but if you'd live there, i couldnt see a reason not to go for it

Well. If it were a summer program, personally, I would consider it.
The town is wonderful in the summer. You are sort of in the middle of the Hamptons. There are good restaurants, fun bars and fun things to do.
It is a little pricey and is starting to get more popular with the tourist, but I have always liked Sag Harbor (as a quasi-local).

I have been to plays before there. It is a nice little theater, and their summer plays often have actors who are "known" but who are local. They also have a program that works with local HS students on Performing Arts. The town/area is summer is lots of fun...good shopping, food, going out etc. One caveat is that the TRAFFIC can be horrendous if you are tying to get anywhere other than town..it can get bad. Sounds like a great opportunity though!

It is a nice little theatre and it's a great little town...if you don't mind the crazy hampton summer crowd... sounds like a great opportunity for you! I agree with the OP's- just don't commute unless it's 'non-peak' hours!
