BBQ Baby Shower guest book?
So I'm planning a Jack n Jill BBQ Baby Shower for my friends in late August. It's going to be a relatively small party- about 20 people. I wanted something creative for the guest book but I can't think of anything clever or cute.
I did a little search and found these ideas which were cute but they aren't thrilling me.
The whole theme is classic BBQ with red and white gingham print. The parents-to-be love to read (particularly mom) and I was thinking of having a children's book to sign, but what book? Is that a stupid idea? I'm open to other ideas, too! TIA!

Yeah, I was thinking a Dr. Seuss book if I decide to do that. I had been toying around with the idea of asking everyone to bring a children's book with a personal message inside, but I kinda forgot and already printed the invites so I can't do that now. Whoops!

I did also find this! We're going to be using a lot of clothes lines (for decor, for decorating a onesie- the finished onesies, and for guess the celeb baby photo) so I thought this might tie into the theme nicely. What do ya think?

I'd definitely do the book. That way it's all in one place (unlike the clothespin idea) and she can use it to read to the baby.

BBQ Baby Shower guest book?
Were the invites already sent out? If not you could add a small piece of paper mentioning the book thing - kind of like a wishing well, but different. KWIM?

You can still do it...
For our shower we made bookmarkers & printed them up with this verse on them.
I want to be a bright child As smart as I can be. That is why I'm hoping My Mommy & Daddy will read to me.
If you plan to bring a card Please take another look. I would like to learn my ABC's From your favorite storybook.
Please add your name and a note Then I'll know you've done your part. Some day I'll surely thank you From the bottom of my little heart.

Re: BBQ Baby Shower guest book?
I actually love the very first picture you posted- the baby balloons attached to the baby framed.
But as a book lover, I love that idea too. I'm odd and don't like Dr. Seuss though. I say, just have them sign a journal/baby book that she can fill out for her child or do a book that is a collection of poems or mixed stories. Hardcover where the back and front there is room to sign.

BBQ Baby Shower guest book?
how about having everybody sign a baby memories book (the books that the parents would fill out with the baby's birth weight / height / pictures / random facts / etc)?
i like the clothesline idea too but feel like that'd end up in the trash after the party (sorry)

Oh! That's a good idea! I even have a really nice hardcover one of Grimm's Fairy Tales at home.
Yeah, while I really like the clothes line idea, you guys are right, it'll end up in the trash. I want something they can hold onto. And as much as I like the balloons with the messages, I don't think it's as much their taste as it is mine.
As far as asking everyone to bring books, the invite already has inserts for the registries (mom to be was forced to register more since her original registry was kinda lacking) and I don't want a thousand things falling out the envelope. I know, I'm nit picky.
Nursey Rhyme Book it is!! Thanks for the input!

Re: BBQ Baby Shower guest book?
I think the book idea is great.
Just a suggestion about the clothespin. Don't know how much more, if anything, you want to because it's a jack and Jill shower at you home. But how about keeping the clothesline and pinning some baby clothes to it as decoration. I've seen this done at bridal showers with panties, aka the panty line, and also lingerie. You could also have white onesies for women to decorate and pin up, although not sure if this is a great option with all the menfolk Alternatively, you can maybe pin clothes up as she opens a gift.
Hmm, I'm thinking I need a pregnant friend to plan a baby party for!
