BBQ chicken

When cooking chicken (like legs, thighs, breasts with the bones) on the BBQ, do you pre-cook them in the house first? If so, how do you cook it? Boil? For how long?

Re: BBQ chicken

I always microwave my chicken for about 10 minutes before putting it on the BBQ, it starts to cook the inside and the meat near the bone isn't as raw when the BBQ cooks it. To me, this is the only way to cook chicken on the BBQ. This works fantastically well with Chicken Breasts on the bone, the chicken is NEVER dry.

Re: BBQ chicken

we sometimes par boil chicken on the bone....then put it on the grill. It insures that the ckicken is cooked all the way without burning

Re: BBQ chicken

The trick to making really tender "wings" is to boil them first.... I wouldn't pre cook chicken to do anything else.... For grilling, I season, marinate, and grill..........

Re: BBQ chicken

I always par-boil first. Very paranoid about underdone chicken.

Re: BBQ chicken

NEVER.

I cook chicken at almost every BBQ I have - tons of compliments...one person asked if I boiled it first...I never even gave it a thought.

The trick to chicken is low temp. Never burns, cooks evenly & is very tender.

Re: BBQ chicken

I microwave it for a little first. This way it cooks faster and your not standing in front of the bbq for an hour :)

Re: BBQ chicken

we never do. DH puts it on the top grill of the BBQ on tin foil. Cook it for 45 minutes and its good to go.
