BBQ Ribs in Slow Cooker without BBQ sauce? Or make own BBQ sauce?
Life has been a bit rough all around for me lately. Dragging uncooperative DS to the grocery store today was a chore and a half. my plan was to do BBQ ribs in the crockpot so I didnt have to worry about "cooking" and could just devote time to DS.
Fine...come back from the store and I have everything except for BBQ sauce.
Anyone make their own BBQ sauce? Many of the recipes online tell you you need to cook it. Couldnt I just throw everything into the crockpot with the ribs since it will be cooking in there anyway?
I am so frazzeled and my mind is really not working well.....
I hate to experiment on $18 worth of ribs.
DS has of course just gone down for a nap (super early) and regardless going back to the store and coming back again to make the ribs and then going back out again to entertain DS is not an option

it's actually very easy to make but the sauce needs to be boiled itself in order to get the full taste so my suggestion is that you blend the bbq sauce and then pour it into the cooker with the ribs and let it all cook together YUM

You can make your own sauce. there are three different based sauces, tomato, vinegar, and mustard. Make whatever one you have the ingrediants for at home. Make the sauce then cook the ribs in it in the slow cooker.
Vinegar based: •1 1/2 cups cider vinegar •1/2 cup ketchup •1 tablespoon sugar •1 teaspoon salt •1/2 teaspoon cayenne or 1 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes Preparation: Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and stir to dissolve the sugar. Serve at room temperature or chilled. The sauce keeps indefinitely.
Tomato based: Ingredients: •3/4 cup ketchup •1/3 cup maple syrup •1/4 cup vegetable oil •1/4 cup bourbon •2 tablespoon cider vinegar •2 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard Preparation: Combine all ingredients together in a medium bowl until well mixed.
Mustard Based Ingredients: •1 cup prepared mustard •1/2 cup molasses •1/4 cup cider vinegar •1/4 cup honey •1 tablespoon oil •1/4 teaspoon powdered oregano •1/4 teaspoon powdered thyme •1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper •1/4 teaspoon cayenne Preparation: Combine dry ingredients in a saucepan. Add enough vinegar to make a mixable paste. Mix well. Place over high heat and add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
