BD Plan: Smart or Not? *UPDATE/NEW QUESTION! (MAJOR TMI ALERT!)

I'll preface by saying that DH has "low volume" in his SA. There were 146 million sperm, but the actual volume of the sample was low. We actually didn't BD for about a week or maybe even a week and a half before this.

As you all probably know, the more you BD, the lower the volume will get. At times where we've BD'd every day or even every other day for a few days, the volume gets VERY low (maybe nickel-quarter size or less) sorry if TMI.

Our plan for this month:

Abstain until 1 day before O - hoping to increase the volume as much as possible. Then BD that day and the next day.

UPDATE & NEW QUESTION:
Warning... MAJOR TMI alert!

Just went to the bathroom to pee and literally had SO much EWCM that as I was peeing, it reached all the way from me into the toilet water! Chat Icon

HOLY MOLY! I swear I remember having EWCM like this when I was maybe 15 and not having any clue what it was. But I've never had this much before! This is the 3rd straight day of TONS of EWCM!

Does this change your opinion about our BD plan?

Should we BD today? (2 days before O) and tomorrow? Or stick with tomorrow and Friday?

(O=Friday)

Re: BD Plan: Smart or Not?

my concern is the longer you abstain, the 'staler' the sperm gets.

nurse told us yesterday 3 days w/out action is the BEST time for an SA. Any longer and the spermies get stale and less mobile....so don't abstatin too long...

other than that - that plan works for me!

ETA: spelling errors - DUR!

I know that's true, but we abstained for about a week and a half before our SA and there were 146 million sperm with 95% motility which is great!

So what do you think?

Re: BD Plan: Smart or Not?

what if you try to BD a couple days before that... then BD those 2 days in a row..

i never heard of sperm getting stale and weak... if this is true... then i would do what i said... if not then i would just go with your plan of the 2 days. to get the most sperm you can!

I think I'll be ovulating on Friday though - so it would be tomorrow and Friday that we'd BD. A little too late for your planChat Icon

is this kind of like what you are doing now? abstain for a week and a half? that would make sense to me b/c it worked really great with the SA.

Yes, that's what we're doing.

Do you think it's a good idea?

Re: BD Plan: Smart or Not?

Honestly, I think its a great plan. My DH and I are older and both times we finally conceived, we only BD one time before O. The months we did every day or every other day, nada. I am convinced if you really know when you are going to O, one or twice is best.

JMO based on my own experiences....

Re: BD Plan: Smart or Not? *UPDATE/NEW QUESTION! (MAJOR TMI ALERT!)

you should 100% BD tonight and then skip a day and then BD the next two days.

sperm can live 4-5 days in healthy CM and it sounds like you have PLENTY of it!

Re: BD Plan: Smart or Not? *UPDATE/NEW QUESTION! (MAJOR TMI ALERT!)

Ok this is only my opinion for i am NO expert.
But since Dh and i had same issue, we abstained from BDing for 4 days. Ive read that abstaining too long is also not good. 4 days MAX.

All we did was BD on day of +opk. I BELIEVE i O the next day.

If you BD 2x in a row i think that isnt a good plan.

I would today and than on Friday.

Didn't you say he has good movement? So isn't it better to do it before so by the time they get there you'll be ovulating?

hmm, i originally was thinking it was a good idea (and voted so) but now that you have so much EWCM, i want to say BD tonight. i can see why you are confused! are you positive you will O on friday? i would BD tonight and then again on Friday. it sounds like the spermies should be able to stick around an extra day if need be. then if you O tomorrow, you are still good. good luck with whatever you decideChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
