Be careful what you wish for
It seems that M/S has found me. . It's a mixture of that and some serious indigestion that had me up all night. And to think a few days ago I was getting so worried about my lack of symptoms.
Can I take anything for this? I called my Dr. office and am waiting for someone to get back to me, but I was wondering if I can take tums.
TIA

I'm sorry. M/s definitely sucks! Hang in there. Pretty soon it will be a distant memory.
I found that ginger ale and saltine crackers really worked for me. I used to keep saltines by my bed too, just in case I woke in the middle of the night.
Feel better!

Re: Be careful what you wish for
This is my second pregnancy and I never had this with DD, now I feel like carrying around a bag with me all day. I am not actually getting sick but the nausea is KILLING me. I am sitting at my desk right now drinking a ginger ale and wishing for my bed! I hope it gets better for you soon!

Re: Be careful what you wish for
If it's really bad the doctor might prescribe Zofran for you.
Hope it gets better!

Re: Be careful what you wish for
drinking cold water helped ease my stomach. Ritz crackers too. I never had m/s TOO bad though. I'd get nauseous everyday and eating was just plain stressful, but I rarely threw up. I heard gatorade helps a lot too (something about the electrolytes)

Re: Be careful what you wish for
Thanks ladies. I am doing the gingerale and crackers thing.
It seems like its more indigestion than anything else. Does anyone know if Tums are ok?

Re: Be careful what you wish for
I had m/s from week 6 - now (week 18). It's much less currently and it's a lot more manageable. But around week 8 my doctor put me on Zofran, 4mg 3x a day. It worked great in the beginning.
Around week 11/12 was the worst or peak. A few weeks after that it was still bad and dr. doubled my Rx to 8mg 3x a day. It got worse and worse and it was my pharmacist that suggested maybe it was the Zofran that was MAKING me sick. I stopped and things got much better.
Zofran can be great but if you're on it just make sure to watch yourself and at times you may want to test yourself and not take it for a day or 2 and see if you can go without it. I hated the idea of being on any meds, plus it makes you SUPER backed up if you catch my drift. Sorry, maybe tmi.
For the uneasy tummy, Tums are your best friend. My dr. allows me to take up to 7 a day. Most days I'm around 2-4.
Feel better!!!

Re: Be careful what you wish for
aww, feel better! I had M/S throughout and a little after the first trimester, but I think the first few days of it were the worst because it was SO overwhelming! Ginger Ale, hard candies, and carbs (if you can stand eating) were my best friends! HTH .
