Be honest how hard is it to go out with 2 under 2 and no infant carrier?
So I have DD's convertable carseat but have not installed it yet and I am trying to prolong it. She still fits fine in the infant carrier but it is getting heavy between her and the carrier it is over 36lbs. How do you go shopping if their are carts like Target? Does the older one go in the main part and the little one sits up top? I forsee many a trantrums if this is the case . Do you think I should just leave DD since she still is ok in the carrier?

You've got to face the music sometime!
It's not as bad as I thought it would be. Yes, I put the baby in the top part and Kate sits in the "basket." She actually likes it.

For a while I left the infant carrier in the trunk just to use in stores or I pushed the double stroller and pulled the shopping cart behind me.
Now that Sarah's in school I run errands when I only have Andy.

The older one goes in the main part (even though it says not to put them there). The baby goes in the upper part of the shopping cart.
You can't fill your cart obviously & you'll need to prep them ahead of time on who goes where & that it's not negotiable. You also need to remind them BEFORE going in the store MULTIPLE times no tantrums or you leave immediately & the next time you go, they won't be able to help you. (They won't know that you haven't gone without them so you can tell them you did, you missed them & hope they behave next time). This is all for the older one's benefit. At one point they do understand before you actually realize it, so there is no harm in setting the rules now.
The only other option is double strollers with baskets.

I would put the infant carrier in the basket area and the older one would sit in the actual cart or if it's one of the cool ones with the car front, he would sit there.
