Beach club tipping

DH and I joined a beach club this summer. We only come on the weekends. We tip the cabana boys if they bring us something, set us up on the beach, open the cabana but we are not like some of the other members who keep them running around all day.

So anyway it is my understanding that people give end of season tips too. How much do you think we should give, if anything? On one hand they haven't done much for us but on the other hand they will very likely be back next summer.

Re: Beach club tipping

My DH used to be a cabana boy and we used to belong to one. He says that the average tip is $20-25 each for week of the summer. So around $200ish if you didn't tip weekly.

Omg! Seriously?? We are there 1x/week (sometimes two at best) and very rarely ask for anything. Wow. Did he get that from everyone???

The best way to find out is ask the people around you what they tip. That way you are not under or over tipping. ( that is what we were told to do)

We really do not go that often. When we are there for one day we will him $10, if a weekend then $20. We never really ask them to do anything but set up our 2 chairs and umbrella in front of our cabanna.

That is all we wereplanning on giving them. I was not aware of end of season tips too. This is our first year in the cabanna, so I am not that sure myself.

Also, My neighbors at the beach club all give $20 a weekend and they have them doing a lot and they go 3 or 4 times a week.

My club does not allow tipping. It would definitely screw up service if some tipped and others didn't, perhaps because they could not. At the end of the season it sends a card asking for tips to be split among the staff.
